We are incredibly honored  to partner with Ronald McDonald House Charities of San Antonio. Working together to support families during their most challenging times fills us with excitement and gratitude! SARMA Charitable Foundation will play a pivotal role in addressing a pressing need: upgrading the kitchen facilities at CHRISTUS Children’s Hospital (CHOSA). With the recent expansion to include seven additional rooms for families, the existing kitchen on the 4th floor is no longer adequate to serve the increased number of guests making this upgrade essential for maintaining the comfort and care that RMHC is committed to providing.

 

Kitchen Upgrade Plan

To ensure that we can meet the needs of our growing number of families, we propose the following enhancements to the kitchen on the 4th floor:

  1. Demolition: Remove an existing wing wall to create additional space.
  2. Ceiling Reconfiguration: Adjust the ceiling grid and tiles as necessary to accommodate the new layout.
  3. Flooring Updates: Patch and finish the flooring where the wall was removed.
  4. Wall Construction: Build a new wall and wing wall to house two additional refrigerators.
  5. Electrical Upgrades: Install two dedicated electrical outlets for new refrigerators.
  6. Shelving Installation: Provide and install solid surface shelving for a new coffee station.
  7. Countertop Modifications: Modify existing countertops to integrate:
    1. Two new stove/range cut-ins.
    2. Two new vent-a-hoods for the stovetops.
  8. Pantry Enhancements: Add a dedicated duplex outlet in the pantry for a new refrigerator.
  9. Locker Systems: Provide and install two locker systems with end panels for family storage
  10. Waterline Installation: Run a waterline to serve the new coffee station.

In addition to these structural and functional improvements, SARMA’s support will be used to:

  1. Purchase two new refrigerators.
  2. Acquire three new dining tables with accompanying chairs.
  3. Install new window blinds and drapes for the kitchen area.
  4. Procure additional kitchen appliances and utensils to support the increased capacity.

The estimated cost of the entire kitchen remodel at CHOSA is $48,500. This comprehensive upgrade included structural improvements, new appliances, enhanced storage solutions, and functional modification to ensure the kitchen meets the needs of the increased number of families staying at RMHC San Antonio!
