Mortgage trigger bills move unanimously

Last week, the U.S. House Committee on Financial Services passed the Homebuyers Privacy Protection Act (H.R. 2808). The bill, largely a ban on mortgage triggers, passed 46-0. The Senate version, S. 1467, passed the Senate Banking Committee and the full Senate on the same day, both times with unanimous consent. The votes are notable because it’s rare for anything in Congress to pass with unanimous votes.
This bill will likely be included in the end-of-year package of measures that the Senate tends to take up each winter from the House.
