On behalf of it’s members, the Professional Background Screening Association (PBSA) has filed a formal complaint against the Virginia State Police in response to Virginia Code § 19.2-392.16 and its heavy $30,000 annual licensing fee requirement.
In addition to the lawsuit, PBSA has requested an immediate court injunction (Temporary Restraining Order) to halt enforcement and fee collection while the case is heard. Joined by four member co-plaintiffs, this effort highlights the widespread challenges these mandates pose to the background screening industry.
