Trigger Leads Bill Passes: The Homebuyers Privacy Protection Act of 2025 (H.R. 2808) passed both the House and Senate and is headed to the President’s desk for signature. This legislation, which will take effect six months after enactment, aims to curb the abusive use of mortgage trigger leads, making them permissible only in limited circumstances for a “firm offer of credit.”
- End of Tri-Merge Mandate: The MBA’s Residential Board of Governors (RESBOG) passed a resolution urging the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) to end the mandatory tri-merge credit report requirement for GSE loans. The MBA argues that this mandate stifles competition and innovation among credit bureaus and increases costs for consumers.
